Our annual picnic was held on Sunday June 22nd at LeMay, America's Car Museum, in Tacoma. The Harold LeMay Museum is the largest collection of classic and vintage automobiles, trucks, and motorcycles in the world. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a great turnout of 50 people. Attendees were taken on two hour tours of the museum, which houses just over 300 of the roughly 2400 cars in the Harold LeMay collection. The museum is located at an old boy's school and the tour took us through a large warehouse building out back that was wall-to-wall full with cars. The tour also included the auditorium, swimming pool room and gymnasium of this historic site and all of these rooms were filled with cars! There are really too many cars to enjoy all at once and a return trip is a definite must.
After the tour we enjoyed a terrific lunch prepared by Warthog Barbeque Pit Catering. After lunch some general announcements were made including information about our upcoming events, and then it was time for our annual business meeting. We had three board of trustee positions open due to expiring terms. Pat Martin and Doug Cerretti each volunteered to serve for another two years. Billie Hess, who has been helping us out in an unofficial capacity for the past year, volunteered for the third position. The membership voted in favor of seating Pat, Doug and Billie on the board. Following this vote we reviewed the proposed changes to our bylaws which include: adding provision for communication via email and website publication; clarification of trustee term beginning and ending; adding trustee position numbers for purpose of election year identification; providing for removal of a trustee for abandonment or detrimental action; clarification of provision on replacement trustee; adding provision for no term limits for trustees; revising bank account provision to reflect available banking procedures. The membership voted in favor of all proposed bylaws changes.
No event would be complete without acknowledging our sponsors: University Audi, Achtuning, Chiprotect and MirrorWorks Detail. We also thanked J. Lohr Winery for donating a case of wine for show and shine prizes, and Redmond Werkshop for providing 10% off discount cards to all attendees. Then it was time for the Show and Shine awards! Prizes were donated by University Audi, Chiprotect, Achtuning, J. Lohr Winery and Audi Club Northwest. The winners were as follows:
